Derby!

We had a GREAT day at preschool on Thursday!  It was lots of fun to learn around our DERBY theme. We also had gorgeous weather and were able to spend time playing outside. :)  Of course all the kids loved it!!

We reviewed H for Horse!

Some of the children cut all by themselves!  Most of them still needed a little help ;)  They cut out pictures of Derby horses and used glue sticks to glue them to their letter H.

"I did it!!"

A couple of the kids also wanted to paint a letter H.

They made adorable horse handprints with Mrs. Beth.  They loved painting the grass on their pictures.

During Lunch Bunch, we made derby hats. ;)

Eden did such a great job pointing out letters in her name as she looked through all the letter stickers!

 Lunch Bunch Buddies :)

Plants

We had a fun week learning around our flowers theme!!

Ha! So fun making handprints :)

The class had so much fun singing in circle time this week.  We learned how a flower grows by singing this song and doing motions along with it. (to the tune of "I'm a little teapot")

First you plant a seed in the cold, cold ground
Out comes the yellow sun big and round
Down come the raindrops soft and slow
Then watch the flower grow, grow, GROW :)

tracing words!  I have been so impressed with this little group and how they are eager to write!  With some, I put my hand over their hands to help and others like to do it all by themselves.  Each one of them feels so proud that they are actually writing! :)

Fun with friends during snack time :)

During this little activity, the children worked on sequencing and gluing skills.  They also worked more on learning their names by putting each letter of their names in order.

With Mrs. Beth, they "picked" veggies from the garden and put them in their baskets.  They glued them to their papers and counted each vegetable together!

so much fun to paint flowers using real veggies that have grown from the ground!

having a tea party with the baby ;)

We also reviewed our shapes and colors this week.  Each child loved getting their own "Shape Book", tracing all the shapes in it, and decorating the front with flower stickers, stamps, and markers.  They also loved tracing their names on the front cover.

We observed how a plant (celery) drinks water to grow!

 How COOL!

They all love to make these bracelets using pipe cleaners and beads.  It is a wonderful workout for those little fine motor muscles too.

playing doctor.... so cute.

In Lunch Bunch, we made another flower and labeled all the parts.

Hope you enjoyed this glimpse of our plant week at LAP! ;)
