Snow and Ice!

We had a wonderful week at preschool exploring, learning, playing, and making crafts all around our fun theme, Snow and Ice!

After we read Snowmen at Night the kiddos worked their fine motor muscles tearing paper and then used their gluing skills to make this cute snowman craft. They then told me what they would do if they were a snowman at night.:)

I was so impressed with how well they did graphing the snow apparel needed for the snowmen!

They had fun reading the color sight words for each snowman and coloring the buttons to match. :)

Here the class worked in groups to count buttons for the snowman. They did great!!

Each child made a snowman with three painted circles: biggest to smallest.

Here a student filled the ice tray with water. After freezing it, the class observed what happened to the water!

It turned to ice! We also watched what happened once it melted: it turned to water again. Wow! ;)

We also saw what happens when salt mixes with ice. The kids gave their fine motor muscles a workout while putting salt water on ice. They saw it melt and learned why we need salt on our icy roads in the winter when it snows.

Our sweet birthday boy!!!

They played a fun alphabet game with Mrs. Traci. The kids picked a snowman letter and then used a dotter marker to match its lowercase. So fun :)

working on our numbers and tens frames!

adding to our alphabet books :)

This was the highlight of our week. Together we read The Mitten, and then the class acted it out. They had so much fun and did such a good job!!

As I reread the book, each child acted out their animal character part. Above the rabbit is about to go in the mitten "feet first".

They squeezed in the mitten just like in the book!

Uh oh.... The bear is about to sneeze....

And all the animals bust out of the mitten!

Our second group acts it out now so everyone gets a turn...

Look at this awesome acting. :) Here the mole is "so tired" and walks slowly into the warm mitten. :)

They gave the fox a "thumbs up" to come on in the mitten.

In circle time, some of the class got a turn to point to the letters during our alphabet song.

When their turn was over, they chose another classmate to have a turn.

As usual, they had lots of fun in centers this week!!

making sentences with sight words!!

getting our minds in motion!! :)

...and here we are at the end of our school day doing our "Letter School". We  all put our fingers in the air and "write" the letter along with the Apple TV.

...and of course their favorite part is doing a little dance at the end! :)

Thanks so much for visiting our blog!!! I hope you enjoyed this peek at your child's week with us. :)
