Unique Me! "God Made Me Special"
The two year old class had a great week back at school! It was sweet to learn around our theme of "Unique Me" and reinforce how special they all are and how God made them each unique.
We worked on recognizing our names, and each child worked on learning the first letter of his/her name. We did lots of fun activities (all while strengthening those fine motor skills! ;)
The kids all loved the sensory tub this week! It was full of fun blue rice plus all the letters of the alphabet. They also got to search for their names (with pictures) in there.
They were so excited to find their names!!
I love this quote from www.mysmallpotatoes.com,
"The smalls love sensory play. It’s a fact. And why not? Through their senses, is how they learn. If children can see, touch, smell, listen, and sometimes even taste their play activities, just think of the information they will process. Experimenting, thinking, practicing small-motor and cognitive skills, learning cause and effect, honing their imaginations…all of this is done during sensory play."
In circle time, they found their names on the carpet, sat down, and were listening like big boys and girls. We were reading My Nose, My Toes, and Me and pointing to the body parts that were being described in our book.
We counted our fingers, noses, ears, eyes, etc.!! We also sang, "Where is Thumbkin" (which they LOVED!) and "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" in circle time.
They had lots of practice working on the first letter of their names. They enjoyed using Q-tips and paint to make their letters.
Mallory and Eden were enjoying some books!
This class loves music and dancing! so cute :)
They also enjoyed this tub of connectors this week. A few of them made some big towers and may want to tell you all about it. :)
Right before I took this shot, these two were having a picnic and were praying before they "ate" their food. I overheard Mallory pray, "Thank you, Jesus, for our friends." It was the sweetest thing!! I have noticed many of the kids so happy to be playing with their friends this week after the break!
Mrs. Beth was helping Eden make her special project. They all had their hands traced and made UNIQUE fingerprints.
We worked on color recognition and matching at one of our morning centers.
Some used tweezers to grab the balls! (wonderful fine motor development)
They are doing great with their colors!
We had more practice on the first letter of their names with dotter markers. They always enjoy these!
The class had so much fun singing "Apples and Bananas". They laughed and thought it was sooo silly. As they listened to the c.d., they sang along the name of the letter with me as I held it up.
Each child counted the letters in his/her name. They stamped each letter as they counted and did a great job!
Hadley and Amalie stamping!
These two were such awesome cleaners! I told them I had to take a picture and show their parents how well they were cleaning. :) (The whole class did better this week. I am so proud how they are listening and following directions! They are growing so fast!!)
It turned out to be a pretty day! The playground was still too wet, but they enjoyed getting outside and using sidewalk chalk.
Wyatt did a great job making a green circle. He was so proud! :)
Sweet Maddie has a birthday this weekend! The class loved singing to her and enjoyed the cupcakes she brought in to share. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MADDIE!!
During snack time, we read God Loves You, Little One. They also loved reading I Love You Through and Through this week. (both books about being loved JUST the way they are)
We measured each child and drew a line up the paper to show their heights. As we saw the differences, we talked about how God made us all unique and special. None of us are exactly the same!
Here are some pictures from our "LUNCH BUNCH", which is now available Thursdays and Fridays from 12-2 for any L.A.P. families! (taught my Mrs. Kelly and me) The kids all LOVED it. They ate their lunches, worked on crafts, played in centers, and listened to stories. Before we knew it, it was time to be picked up!
We extended our "Unique Me" theme to Lunch Bunch. We traced all the kids' bodies, and they had so much fun painting them!
Just like all the colors are beautiful and unique, so are these sweet kids! They made "color wheels" using food coloring!
They had so much fun playing in the "rainbow bubbles"!
It is always fun at the play-dough center!! If you are interested in Lunch Bunch, please let Mrs. Jennifer or me know! We would be so happy to have any of your children with us and know they will have a blast! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!
