First Week of School! "All About Me"

I cannot tell you how excited I am to teach all these precious children this year.  What a sweet group!  We had a wonderful first week of school.  Your child may want to sit with you and show you pictures of all his/her new friends. :)

First thing in the morning, we head to the playground!  We had two beautiful days this week outside.  The class loved running, sliding, climbing, driving cars, and playing with their new buddies.

So proud to go down the slide!

sweet boy:)

Why not dress up to go outside? :)

After playground time, we line up like big boys and girls and head down the hall to the Minds in Motion room.  These past couple days the children have loved exploring the room and checking out all the stations.  The instruments were a hit! :)

After Minds in Motion, we head back to the class for circle time.  I am so proud of this group!!  They are already learning the routine the second day into preschool and sitting like such big boys and girls.

They loved this book Froggy Goes to School by Jonathan London.  Froggy was a little nervous to go to school on the first day, and his momma told him everyone gets nervous... we read how he met new friends, had circle time (just like us!), and played.  At the end of the day, Froggy's mommy and daddy were there for him.  There were big smiles all around when I asked them who they would see later after school was over for the day.

After circle time, we pray, sanitize hands, and come to the tables for snack.  We also use this time for a restroom break and sometimes another story!  After we finish eating our snack and throw away our trash, we have free play at the centers in the classroom.

During this time, Mrs. Beth and Mrs. Jeana work individually and with small groups on crafts and learning activities.  As the children play, we call different ones to our tables to work.  They love this special time with the teachers and the many fun and engaging activities we do!

After reading I Love Myself by Karen Beaumont, we talked about how God loves each one of them and exactly how he made them!  He wouldn't change a thing so we can love ourselves too!!  Even if our "hair is a mess" or if we have "purple polka dotted lips" (they thought hilarious;) "I would not love me any less."
I asked them to raise a hand if they love their name.  Hands went up all around the circle. We then worked on this little activity with dotter markers.  They loved it.  Those markers are so fun for little ones!!

so excited about this horse :)

What a great start to our preschool year... we have LOVED getting to know your children a little bit this week and look so forward to getting to know them better!  Thank you for entrusting them to L.A.P.  It is a joy to have each of them in our young 3's class this year!

Below are a couple shots from our Lunch Bunch (offered on Thursdays and Fridays from 11:30-1:30). This is a shortened version of our morning schedule including eating lunch.  Let Mrs. Jennifer or me know if you are interested.  We would love to have your child join us!

Expanding on the book, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
we did a fun project about the letters in our names.
