The Polar Express - All Aboard!!

We had so much fun this week learning with our Polar Express theme!!

We made a train with the letters of our last names!  We are learning to recognize our last names and will soon be practicing how to write them!

We counted "marshmallows" for our hot chocolate while strengthening fine motor muscles.  We did this using white paint and Q-tips!

We worked on our cutting skills by cutting out train sight words.

We are so big and are learning to READ!!  (I am SO PROUD of these little guys!!)  As we are recognizing new sight words, we are starting to make sentences and read them.

A highlight of the week was taking a ride on "The Polar Express" in our P.J.'s.  We read the book together, drank hot chocolate, and all got bells to ring to see if we still believe. :)

We also filled up our class marble jar this week. (When the class does an extra great job of listening, we get marbles in our jar.)  They did so well switching centers and listening on Wednesday that we got to have this special Polar Express treat.

We also had so much fun making holiday crafts this week.

...like these beautiful snowflake ornaments.

... and these adorable reindeers. :)

We also had loved playing in our Christmasy centers:

We had tons of Christmas books to choose from in the Reading Center.  This new class Polar Express book was a hit.  The kiddos practiced reading this emergent reader that has some of our sight words in repetitive sentences.  Great practice while learning read. :)

The sensory bin was full of bells, Christmas buckets, and gingerbread men.

... and then wrapping paper, scissors, and tape.

We had fun with all the play-dough cookie cutters and play-dough mats. :)

... and loved coloring in the Independent Center.

In the Minds-in-Motion room one day we had fun playing musical chairs!

If we got out early, we got to be cheerleaders for the rest of the class. :)

Another highlight of our week at preschool was having so many guests to help with "Earth and Fire Pottery".  The class just loved having special visitors to help with painting their ornaments.  Thank you for taking the time to make these sweet memories for them. :)

Thank you for visiting our blog. Hope you enjoyed this peek into our classroom.  Come back soon. :)
