Our class had another wonderful week at LAP!
At circle time we read our Community Helpers book together. We looked at the pictures and talked about lots of different workers in our community and their important jobs.
The children loved getting their own copy of the book to color and decorate.
After decorating the books, we got out lots of costumes, and they played dress up! Below are their pictures and what they said they wanted to be. (some changed their minds once they saw the fun outfits. ;)
William wants to be a firefighter.
Hadley wants to be a doctor.
Amalie wanted to know where the teacher costume was. :) She wants to be a teacher.
Karsen wants to be a teacher.
Chinara wants to be a doctor.
Eva wants to be a doctor. Look at that pose! ;)
Wyatt wants to be a construction worker.
Eden wants to be a firefighter.
Mady Kate wants to be a teacher.
Myla wants to be a construction worker. ;)
Evan wants to be a police officer.
Mallory wants to be a doctor.
Maddie wants to be a firefighter.
Mrs. Beth painted all the kids' hands for our adorable firefighter craft. These will be in the end of the year portfolios.
Aren't they sweet? Love those little handprints...
While Beth and I are working with some of the children in small groups or individually, the other ones have been working and playing so well in the classroom centers. I am amazed at how far they've come since the beginning of the year. They have gotten a little older and are learning to follow directions, play well together, and be kind to their friends. (of course this is a work in progress ;) but they really are doing great!) It is so fun to see them interact and pretend together. Here are a few pics of center time from our mornings this week.
Our sensory center had gravel, trucks, and cars in it this week.
Hadley was so proud. She matched the clothespins to the correct color circle. :)
Fun with connectors!
Building "towers" :)
The girls were having another "picnic".
On Friday, we made our own stoplights. They each told me which color they should use for stop, slow, and go.
Some of the class enjoyed making another painting with their cars and trucks! It was so fun for them to see the tracks the wheels made, especially for these boys. :)
The leftover paint went to the art center where they could be creative!
This week I have been holding up each child's name at circle time, and the class has to tell me who it is! We talk about the first letter of the name and what sound it makes. They have done awesome. They see the child's picture as well as the name, and it is has been great practice for name recognition and letter sounds.
Beth and I thought this was so cute. We had a fun version of the alphabet song playing during music time, and I told the kids they can get up and dance. They always LOVE to dance. Some grabbed partners and most of them were cracking up. We had to snap a picture!
Our letter of the week was N for Nurse, and the class enjoyed attempting "rainbow writing". I wrote the N as we said the little phrase, "Big line, big line, big line". They tried to trace the letter and some used dotter markers to go over it.
We made another fun craft after talking about how important sanitation workers are. We decided it would be awful to have garbage everywhere and that we are very thankful these trucks come and pick it up for us each week!!
Chinara with her police hat and finished craft.
Another great pose! He put that hat on and felt pretty cool as a cop ;)
Our class is also getting so much better about cleaning up after morning center time too!! These sweet girls worked so hard cleaning, I told them I'd take a picture for their families to see. :)
LUNCH BUNCH pics.....
more fun at centers...
This was so sweet... the girls were pretending to be doctors. It was serious business. ;)
We had a great week. :) Hope you enjoyed the pics! Looking forward to seeing your sweet kiddos next week.
